Message From The Falcon’s Mascot
The Atlanta Falcons Football team has already condemned the actions of Michael Vick and his alleged dog-fighting enterprise. I would like to go one step further and point out that falcons IN GENERAL do not endorse what Mr. Vick did either.
Falcons have come to be associated with many great things. We grace the wings of high performance machines like the F-16 Fighting Falcon, Star Wars’ Millennium Falcon and, in the 1960s, a pretty decent car from Ford. We headline entertainment gems such as FALCON AND THE SNOWMAN and the FALCON CREST television series. And who can ignore our impressive list of mascots? Besides myself and the Atlanta Falcons, we also claim Freddie and Frieda Falcon representing Bowling Green State and Fandango of Messiah College in Grantham, PA. It would be a shame if all these great falcon associations were overshadowed by the mistaken belief that, because we never officially spoke out, we therefore tolerate dog fighting.
I hate dogs as much as the next bird but I speak on behave of my entire species when I say this: falcons do not support what Michael Vick did.
Sincerely,
Mascot
Atlanta Falcons

We of the older and more senior Birds join you in your condemnation of the criminal Vick and his evil cohort. But less us remember that he and they are but the tip of the iceberg in the ongoing tale of animal woe at the hands of humans. The struggle must continue. Do not hate dogs, young Brother Adler. They are foolish children, and have much to learn.
Adler, I don’t know any dogs so I can’t say what I feel about them. I don’t think those of us in the animal kingdom believe that you falcons endorse cruelty to any animal in the name of a human. Humans don’t know how to live in harmony with nature. They mistakenly believe that all of nature is theirs to command. Animal cruelty makes them believe they are powerful and in control because these magnificent animals cower from fear in their presence. Sick, Sick, Sick.
